Office Depot...not just for office supplies!

Do you know what all you can get at Office Depot? Just about everything. I didn't realize it until I was looking on their website for something and noticed under the "office supplies" tab was a section called "Breakroom and Janitorial". They have 228 items under their food category! Can you believe it? I'm not talking about just coffee and creamers either. They have Easy Mac, hand held soups, and other things to eat.
Next time you are looking for dry erase markers or needing to order paper for the copier, take a look. Maybe you'll be as entertained as I was or maybe I'm just too easily entertained...LOL

Good bye, Sophia!

I know you are probably thinking I'm a little crazy to write a blog about the passing of Estelle Getty. I was inspired while watching an episode of Golden Girls. (I usually have my TV on the Lifetime channel every morning as background noise.) Well, I'm really not. I'm writing about the effects of dementia on a family. It can be hear wrenching!
I lived with my grandmother suffering her last years wit
h it. She died when I was pregnant with Conner in December 2004. I felt so sorry for her because it was difficult for her to say what she wanted. And sometimes we would put her off because we thought she was talking "crazy". For example, there was one time she was very determined one lady in her building (when she was living in some Senior Citizen apartments) was stealing her clothes. We just put it off as her being delusional, but now I just wonder if she was actually right. I can't say she was lying because it just might have been the truth. HER truth.
That's the crazy thing about dementia, it will make yo
u think things are true when it really isn't. It will make you forget your loved ones. It will make things difficult for you to convey. I remember seeing an interview with Rue McClanahan, Bea Arthur, and Betty White. They were having a Golden Girls reunion and the big question was, "Where was Estelle Getty?" (Sophia), well her dementia had gotten so bad that the last time the rest of the "Girls" had visited her, she barely remembered them. I'm lucky that my grandmother never got that bad.
So, I know now that my grandmother and Estelle Getty are both in a better place. A place where they can convey what they want to say. A place where their truth will be everyone's truth. A place where they don't have to be frustrated because of this awful disease.

Oh what fun.

I really don't like being the one stuck at home when someone goes on a trip and I usually let it show. Yesterday, Billy went on a trip with the youth group from church to Lake Martin. I was really happy for him, but I was sad at the fact that he was leaving.
I hate that I do this! It made for an unpleasant breakfast at IHOP. That and Billy ordered before I was ready so I just ordered the same thing he ordered and really didn't want that.
While he's gone Conner and I get to do a lot of things that we wouldn't normally get to do everyday because we have a vehicle while he's gone. Yesterday we got to run some errands and then after nap I took Conner to the fountains at the Eastern Shore Centre.
I'm not sure what we are going to do today. I guess we'll just go wherever the wind blow us. We might go over to my mom and dad's house to visit with them. They just back from a trip to Savannah, GA. They got to eat at The Lady and Sons Restaurant (Paula Deen's restaurant). They also got to take a tour of Savannah and was picked up at their hotel by a limo to take them to the tour. It was my mom's first time riding in a limo.
Okay, enough chatting, I'm going to go do some stuff before Conner and I hit the road! Hope all of you have a great weekend!

My own paradise!

Have you ever thought that you wanted to be in paradise? Have you ever thought about what paradise might be? To some it might be exotic get a way. To others it might be a great shopping trip. Well, I've found mine, and it's in my back yard with Conner.
Yesterday, we were outside he was playing in his pool and I was reading my book. We weren't in an exotic loc
ale and heaven knows we sure didn't buy anything...lol It was just simply nice to be able to enjoy being in a back yard watching my son play. Knowing that we didn't have to go anywhere to be happy. We were happy in our own backyard.
So, I guess what I'm trying to get at is paradise can be ANYWHERE you want it to be. It's just what you make of the situation you are in.

Under the Sea

I just did this layout today. I was looking through some tutorials and came across one that showed how to blend a pictures into the paper so, I tried it. It didn't come out as nice as the one in the tutorial, but I like it. This was when we went to California in September of last year. We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Conner had so much fun seeing all of the fish. We go to pet sting rays. They were too cute, they acted like dogs wanting to be petted. They would come up to you when you came to the tank and splash you so that you would pet them...lol It was a really nice trip.
