Just a little update!

Nothing too exciting just....

I'M PREGNANT!!!! ;D

I went in today to have my estrogen and progesterone levels checked today. After that I went to help my mom with some things and I get a call from my dr.'s office while I was on the phone with a friend. I missed the call and immediately called back.

When I called back they put me on hold and the nurse that usually calls me back said it wasn't her that called me b/c they didn't give her my chart. So, she puts me on hold. She comes back online and tells me that they are still looking for who called me. Then, one of the Dr.s gets on the phone and I immediately think the worst. He asks if I'm at a place where I can talk. (Really thinking the worst now) He then says, "Okay, you're pregnant!" I asked, "Really?!?! I didn't think I was going to find out today?" He said they were being sneaky and they usually won't tell unless it's definitive and mine was definitive!

If you didn't know by now...

We are trying for another baby. We transferred 4 embryos on December 19th and will have my pregnancy test this Wednesday December 31st.
I had a little bit of a scare on Christmas day. I started spotting. It had been a very busy day for us of course. We got up and Conner opened up his Santa Claus presents that morning. (I woke up at 6:30 and couldn't get him up until about 7:30...lol) Then, we got ready and went to Billy's mom's house and exchanged presents and ate dinner up there. Came home for about an hour. That's when I found that I started spotting.
I told Billy about it and told him I was going to lay down for a bit. It was about an hour before we left to go to my parents' house. The rest of the day I sort of sat down and chilled. When we got home the spotting had increased and I called Dr. K to see if there was anything that needed to be done. He said that it was really just in God's hands now. I felt really bad for calling him b/c he was obviously sleeping when the answering service called him and there wasn't anything else that could be done.
Yesterday we went to Jackson like we always do to exchange gifts and visit with my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandfather. I was still spotting a little bit, but not near as much. I still just sort of took it easy and didn't lift on Conner or anything heavier than my purse.
Today I wake up and the spotting is gone! :) So, I'm hoping this was implantation bleeding. We'll see this Wednesday, I guess. Keep praying for me, please!

Long time no post...

So, it's been a while, huh?
I guess I've just been neglecting my blogging duties. I was talking about this to my friend Laura ( see BFF ). We were both wondering why we don't blog as often. It's not like it's that hard. I have no idea why I don't do it more often.
I have found some more blogs that I love to "stalk" (in a friend
ly, check them everyday kind of way.) The first one is Cakewrecks. It's a hilarious look at what can happen to the beautiful cake that you dreamed of for your special occasion turning into....well, a wreck.
The other blog I love reading is Fail Blog. It is along the same lines as Cakewrecks, but deals with more than just cakes. Some pretty funny things are on there.
There is one more blog that I like to check in on called 365. It's a blog by a girl from my message board. She posts a picture for each da
y for 365 days - one year. It's really a cute blog and she's really a great photographer. I've consulted her on a few photography questions of mine. I wish I had her talent.
Well, I think that's all for right now. I will leave you with the Christmas card I created to send to family and friends this year.
I used the background and trees from Captivated Visions. I used the snowflake overlay from Scrapping with Liz. The rest was all me which was words and picture...lol
Wow, looks like I went link happy today. Well, it's my gift to you! Happy clicking. And Happy Holidays!!!

I thought he was too old for this...

Okay first of all, I'd like to tell you that if you have any gel air fresheners get them out of your house now.

I just had to call poison control b/c my 3 year old son decided that he wanted to taste the gel air freshener that was in Billy's bathroom. @@ I was in my bathroom fixing my hair when he came in and had this odd look on his face. I asked him what he did and he said he ate his book. So, I was thinking no big deal, right?

Well, then he tells me he needs something to drink and I tell him to wait a sec. About a millisecond later I start smelling something and it was the gel air freshener from Billy's bathroom. He had poured I don't know how much on his hands and decided it to put it in his mouth. I immediately turn my faucet on in my bathroom and get his stool and tell him to start drinking water (he likes to stick his mouth under the faucet so, he knew what to do.)

Then, I called Poison Control and they couldn't even find the air fr
eshener in their database or online. The lady at Poison Control told me the best thing to do was to give him something to drink, watch him and make sure he didn't start coughing. She said the chemicals that are in these air fresheners can get into their lungs and cause a chemical pneumonia.

Here I was thinking that he was over putting stuff in his mouth.

This is what the stuff looks like:

My BFF

This is a scrap page I did of me and my best friend. We have known each other since kindergarten. She lives in Birmingham (Actually outside of B'ham in a town called Chelsea, but it's like I say I live in Mobile when I live outside of Mobile in Daphne.) We rarely get to see each other, but we talk AT LEAST once a week if not more. I love her and don't know what I would do without her!!!
This picture was taken on her recent visit down to Mobile. She was able to come over and we spent the whole morning talking and catching up. I used the Refresh kit I got from Scrap Girls. The paper is called Kraft Multi Stripes by Erica Hite. The elements that I used was: Tab-yellow by Shalae Tippetts and a glitter sun that I changed the color of by R. Dickson from a Soleil kit.

Office Depot...not just for office supplies!

Do you know what all you can get at Office Depot? Just about everything. I didn't realize it until I was looking on their website for something and noticed under the "office supplies" tab was a section called "Breakroom and Janitorial". They have 228 items under their food category! Can you believe it? I'm not talking about just coffee and creamers either. They have Easy Mac, hand held soups, and other things to eat.
Next time you are looking for dry erase markers or needing to order paper for the copier, take a look. Maybe you'll be as entertained as I was or maybe I'm just too easily entertained...LOL

Good bye, Sophia!

I know you are probably thinking I'm a little crazy to write a blog about the passing of Estelle Getty. I was inspired while watching an episode of Golden Girls. (I usually have my TV on the Lifetime channel every morning as background noise.) Well, I'm really not. I'm writing about the effects of dementia on a family. It can be hear wrenching!
I lived with my grandmother suffering her last years wit
h it. She died when I was pregnant with Conner in December 2004. I felt so sorry for her because it was difficult for her to say what she wanted. And sometimes we would put her off because we thought she was talking "crazy". For example, there was one time she was very determined one lady in her building (when she was living in some Senior Citizen apartments) was stealing her clothes. We just put it off as her being delusional, but now I just wonder if she was actually right. I can't say she was lying because it just might have been the truth. HER truth.
That's the crazy thing about dementia, it will make yo
u think things are true when it really isn't. It will make you forget your loved ones. It will make things difficult for you to convey. I remember seeing an interview with Rue McClanahan, Bea Arthur, and Betty White. They were having a Golden Girls reunion and the big question was, "Where was Estelle Getty?" (Sophia), well her dementia had gotten so bad that the last time the rest of the "Girls" had visited her, she barely remembered them. I'm lucky that my grandmother never got that bad.
So, I know now that my grandmother and Estelle Getty are both in a better place. A place where they can convey what they want to say. A place where their truth will be everyone's truth. A place where they don't have to be frustrated because of this awful disease.

My grandmother at my wedding June 22, 2002.

Oh what fun.

I really don't like being the one stuck at home when someone goes on a trip and I usually let it show. Yesterday, Billy went on a trip with the youth group from church to Lake Martin. I was really happy for him, but I was sad at the fact that he was leaving.
I hate that I do this! It made for an unpleasant breakfast at IHOP. That and Billy ordered before I was ready so I just ordered the same thing he ordered and really didn't want that.
While he's gone Conner and I get to do a lot of things that we wouldn't normally get to do everyday because we have a vehicle while he's gone. Yesterday we got to run some errands and then after nap I took Conner to the fountains at the Eastern Shore Centre.
I'm not sure what we are going to do today. I guess we'll just go wherever the wind blow us. We might go over to my mom and dad's house to visit with them. They just back from a trip to Savannah, GA. They got to eat at The Lady and Sons Restaurant (Paula Deen's restaurant). They also got to take a tour of Savannah and was picked up at their hotel by a limo to take them to the tour. It was my mom's first time riding in a limo.
Okay, enough chatting, I'm going to go do some stuff before Conner and I hit the road! Hope all of you have a great weekend!

My own paradise!

Have you ever thought that you wanted to be in paradise? Have you ever thought about what paradise might be? To some it might be exotic get a way. To others it might be a great shopping trip. Well, I've found mine, and it's in my back yard with Conner.
Yesterday, we were outside he was playing in his pool and I was reading my book. We weren't in an exotic loc
ale and heaven knows we sure didn't buy anything...lol It was just simply nice to be able to enjoy being in a back yard watching my son play. Knowing that we didn't have to go anywhere to be happy. We were happy in our own backyard.
So, I guess what I'm trying to get at is paradise can be ANYWHERE you want it to be. It's just what you make of the situation you are in.

Under the Sea

I just did this layout today. I was looking through some tutorials and came across one that showed how to blend a pictures into the paper so, I tried it. It didn't come out as nice as the one in the tutorial, but I like it. This was when we went to California in September of last year. We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Conner had so much fun seeing all of the fish. We go to pet sting rays. They were too cute, they acted like dogs wanting to be petted. They would come up to you when you came to the tank and splash you so that you would pet them...lol It was a really nice trip.

SAHM

So, I thought everyone would know what SAHM means, but apparently they don't. The reason I bring this up is because my husband was reading my blog the other day and asked me why I said I was a "sham"....LOL
So, for those who do not know what SAHM means it's Stay At Home Mom.
Toodles! :o)

Yay!

I just wanted to share that Billy and I are childless for the next 24 hours (at the very min.) I'm very excited! Our weekend has been wonderful so far...
Last night we met my in-laws at Dairy Queen to get my nephew. My MIL and SIL were going to the ZZ Top Concert at the Wharf in Orange Beach. We actually ate supper there. Can I just tell you that I don't believe I've ever ate a meal at Dairy Queen. If I have, it has been way too long to remember. I had chili cheese fries! Oh sweet heaven, they were good!!!
We then came home and let the boys play. It's funny because I always said when I was younger that I wanted to have 1 child, but now that I see Conner playing with other kids and the joy he gets out of it...my mind has definitely changed. I mean I know having a sibling will be totally different than having a cousin or friends over to play, but at least he wouldn't be lonely if he had a sibling.
When it was time for us to go to bed, all 3 boys were going to sleep in Conner's room. I came and took Conner to my bed because I knew where he was going to be around 3-4 in the morning...right by my bed asking to crawl in. So, Conner and I had a good night's sleep. Billy, on the other hand, did not. He said Conner has nothing on Brian when it comes to sleeping under someone. Bless, his heart, I don't think he got any sleep. So, Brian and Billy come bebopping into my room at 6:30 this morning. (That's right, on a Saturday!) Billy said Brian woke up at 5, then at 5:30, then at 6 and Billy finally let him get up at 6:30...lol
So, this morning we got up and went to IHOP (or as Conner says Hi-hop) and ate breakfast, then met my MIL in Stapleton, handed the boys off and high tailed it back to Daphne! Conner, hasn't totally left our minds though...lol On our way back to the house we stopped at a yard sale 3 doors down from our house and got Conner one of those Little Tykes Basketball goals. He's gonna be so surprised! I'll have to post a picture of it with him when he gets home tomorrow.
Right now, Billy is taking a much needed nap. Later this afternoon we are going to 2 matinee movies! We are going to see "What Happens in Vegas" and the new Indiana Jones movie. THEN, after that we are going to eat at STIX. I'm reallly excited! (see so excited that I put an extra 'l' in really)
Well, now I'm going to enjoy the peace and quiet of a childless house right now...and maybe do a little digiscrapping. Woohoo!

A day at the beach

Wow, I haven't updated in about a month, so, here ya go! (Be sure to check out Conner's blog too. I'm still in the process of transfering from his babysite too.)

We recently went to spend the weekend at Gulf Shores. It was a nice get away. We left Friday and at lunch at Lu Lu's at Homeport Marina. After that we checked into our hotel and went to Ft. Morgan. Later that day we went to The Track Family Fun Center. Conner loved riding the go-carts with me and Billy.

Saturday morning we got up and went to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, then came back to our hotel room and got ready and went to the beach. Conner didn't like the waves, but LOVED playing in the sand. After riding around a little bit we took Conner to Waterville, U.S. A. it took him a while to get used to the water there, but by the time we were ready to leave, he didn't want to go.

Here's a scrap page, I did this afternoon with pictures taken while we were at the beach. (click to make larger)

This is pretty neat!

I went the one of the web sites that I saw was advertised on the side of my blog called Smilebox. I just wanted to check it out to see what was being adverstied on my blog. I saw that it does all sort of things such as invitations, postcards, and scrapbook pages. It's pretty neat. I downloaded it to my computer and then it fetches some pictures you have you on your computer and will put them into a template. All you have to do is do some journaling and it looks awesome.
I might use it some; I really like creating my own pages though. It does give great ideas on doing some layouts.
Just thought I'd let you know.

4th of July Page

I was looking through some old pictures on my computer and found another scapbook page that I've done. I did this one in 2006. I started digiscrapping right after Conner was born, but by no means am I as good as ones that I've seen on other sites such as www.scrapgirls.com or www.scrapbook-bytes.com .

I think I got these papers from Ink Stained Scrap Kits.

So, here it is: (click on it to make it larger)

Wee

I thought while I was at it, I would add another page that I did previously. The paper and frame designs on this page are from the Midsummer Swelter Page Kit by Rina Kroes from Scrapbook-bytes.com.

I make dirt look good

Okee dokee, I did another page. This time I used a freebie scrapbook page layout from Tracy's Scraps called "Tied Together". I like the way it turned out, I hope you do too! (click to make it bigger)

Where is Alabama?...A geography lesson of sorts

Mobile, Alabama to be exact.
For the longest time I thought I lived in the good old United States of AMERICA. Well, according to some people, I live in Europe and am a part of the French nation.
You see, after EADS/ Northrop-Grumman was awarded the Air Force contract to build the new tanker, there has been an out lash of criticism saying that the tanker is going to be built on foreign soil. For those of you who don't know, the tankers will be built in MOBILE, ALABAMA...and what do you know? That is a part of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA! If you don't believe me check the map below: (which was pulled from Google maps)

See, I live in the United States. We aren't even connected to foreign soil (unlike a certain crybaby company that is just a hop, skip, and a jump from CANADA.) I mean I don't even think that Mobile has even tried secede from the Union since the 1800s. So, would all the dingbats that think this tanker is going to be built on foreign soil, by foreign workers wake up? It is going to be built in MOBILE, AL by AMERICAN WORKERS. It will be creating jobs for AMERICANS.
Okay, rant over. Wait, one more thing...If you support what I'm saying please go to this website and vote that you DO support the decision for the tankers to be built in MOBILE, ALALBAMA, UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

EDIT:
For further reading about the tanker deal you can read here.

A new page

I've been wanting to do a new page, but couldn't decide what to scrap. I was going through my pictures and saw this picture of Conner with Captain Hook and knew this is what I wanted to do. I love digiscraping, but I just wish that I was better at it so I could do it more often.

Anway, here's my page:

Update on Conner's blog

I have started moving some of Conner's contents from his babysite to his blogspot. It's definitely going to take some time, but hey! at least I'm getting it done, right? I'll be adding more pictures soon.

Here's a link to his blog: The Chronicles of Conner

Sometimes it just stinks...

Being a parent, that is...
The other day we went to a cute little hot dog restaurant in Daphne called "Frosty Dog". They make wonderful hot dogs with all sorts of toppings and they serve ice cream. Billy and I had been there before and I had told Billy that the next time we were there I wanted to try some Cotton Candy Ice cream. It just looked so yummy!
So, like I said the other day we went there with Conner. Of course him being the curious 2 1/2 year old he is he had to get up and "see" everything and not eat. We had told him that if he ate his hot dog he could get some ice cream. Well, the bribery didn't work. He didn't eat his hot dog, instead, he opted to run around. So, he didn't get ice cream. Therefore, I didn't get ice cream.
I couldn't get ice cream and just eat it in front of him. I mean it would have made a point ( I ate my hot dog so, I got ice cream.), but it would have just been plain mean to eat ice cream in front of him after telling him he couldn't have any.
So, there! That is what it stinks to be a parent sometimes...lol

Friday, February 8, 2008

Yeah...

I haven't done Conner's blog yet. It was a nice thought though...lol I've just got to get around to it.

My Baby Boy...

...Or as he says, "I not baby, I big boy!"
I have a site for him at www.babysites.com I loved how it did journal entries and all. The thing is it only held so many pictures and I haven't kept up with it like I did during his first year. I think I just about chronicled his every eye blink his first year. I mean I was a brand spankin' new mom and that's what we mom's do right?
Well, I had an idea. I think I'm going to start a new blog just for my Conner. I can move all of his journal entries to the new blog and even add pictures...MORE PICTURES....lol I think I am going to start on that today.
I'll keep you posted...

Customer Service

Customer service. What has happened to it? Why do some people go into the field if they do not know how to be friendly? Maybe they think they are being friendly, but they are not using the right tone to their voice.
I just got off of the phone with my cable company. We are in the process of moving and I wanted to make sure that our house was wired correctly for cable. The lady that is "helping" me answers my call and asks for the current service address and last 4 of my ss#. I give it to her. She says, "Hold on." Then she comes back and asks for it again like I had never given it to her in the first place. So, I give it to her...again. Then she says, "I'm sorry, ma'am the address and last 4 are not right." I'm thinking to myself, I know the address is right, but I wasn't sure if the social was right b/c the account is in Billy's name. She then comes back and says, "Oh, I see it."
Fast forward to when I tell her that I want to have the house we are moving into checked to see if it wired correctly for cable. She gets a major attitude! It's like she doesn't want to take the time and help me. I mean I can understand if they can't do it until I move my service to the new address, but she was acting like I should have known that fromt he begining. UGH!!!
If anyone reading this works in customer service, please remember the person on the other side of the phone doesn't know everything...lol

Memories...

So, anyone else have problems forgetting things? Not remembering...forgetting. I wish I had amnesia sometimes. There are some memories that I have, I would just love to forget. Maybe not forget the lessons I've learned from the memories, but just the memory itself.
Ever feel that way? It would be like when you dated someone and talked about their ex the whole time. Detailing every thing that they did together from the first time they ate at Olive Garden to how she used to giggle at his one irritating joke. You could keep the lesson lerned which would be that you don't like to go out with someone that talks about their ex, but you wouldn't have to remember that awful date you went on that helped you learn that lesson.
Or maybe if I could revisit the bad memories, I wouldn't have the feelings or emotions that go with them.
Enough of my rambling today.

Starting

So, I was inspired to start some sort of blog again by Mandi. I really liked having place to let my emotions out. I mean sometimes it's just nice to be able to write (or in this case type) them out. There are also events in my life that I would just love to share and may not be able to call everyone I know at that moment to let them know about it. So, this is what I'm going to start doing.

I do want to use this too as a way to show my pictures and my digital scrapbooking. Okay, I'm going to stop rambling now...

Hopefully I can write nice blogs. Maybe they will make you think, maybe they will make you smile, or maybe you'll just read it and say, "I know how you feel". Please don't hesitate to comment when I do blog. I hope you enjoy.

Oh and my first picture will be a picture that I took of Conner and Billy last April. We were at Bayfront Park in Daphne. Conner and Billy had just walked to the water and were starting to explore...
